Creating my moodboard this month was definitely a challenge that I put off for as long as possible. What can I say? It’s hard to be creative in quarantine. Normally, I love to start the month reflecting on my goals, aspirations, and everything that’s been inspiring me. This month, of course, it has been harder to look to the future when the future feels so uncertain. How can I include short term goals or future travel plans, when my current goals are to put on real clothes and get through the day without crying? And travel… Between cancelled trips to Washington for Cherry Blossom season, New York for my parents’ birthday party, and everything beyond that up in the air (or perhaps I should say grounded?) it’s a seriously depressing time for those of us with a strong sense of wanderlust.
So for now, I’m highlighting the little things I can look to for small joy and short term inspiration. Healthy eating, colourful cozy clothes, a yoga pose I’m aiming to try by month’s end, and a reminder that when it all gets too much, I can always escape in a book. Then of course, I can’t forget to keep my mind on the future. My dream home, which is coming eventually this year, and the hotel in New York we’re going to for my birthday. Or, for when we celebrate it belatedly. There is hope during uncertain times, as well as opportunity and a sense of community. In the words of Diddy, featured here, “I HAVE DECIDED TO BE HAPPY BECAUSE IT IS GOOD FOR MY HEALTH!!!!!!”
That’s all for now, friends! Stay safe, stay sane & stay home if you can. xo
